What we’re about
Welcome to a weekly gathering interweaving mindfulness meditation practice and recovery from addictive substances and behaviors. We are not a replacement for traditional 12-Step Groups, but a supplement to them. You do not have to be a Buddhist to participate in this group or be in any specific recovery program to attend. We welcome anyone who struggles with the suffering associated with craving and who seeks to cultivate peace through living mindfully. The purpose of the group is to:
- Meditate with others who are in recovery or exploring recovery
- Find inspiration from shared readings from Buddhist authors that support us on this journey
- Share our personal experience, strength, and courage
- Integrate the basic goodness of meditation with our commitment to recovery
At each meeting we explain the view, purpose, and disciplines for the Heart of Recovery. There is instruction in mindfulness meditation, and 15 minutes of meditation. There is a reading, then all are invited to share (optional) and to discuss the reading or anything pertinent to their recovery.
This meeting is open to all. The meeting is online via Zoom.
