What we’re about
This group is for people that are interested in, well anything arty I suppose. Sketching, calligraphy, adult colouring, knitting, drawing, digital art 🤷🏻♂️. I don’t know, how about you show us?.
I started adult colouring, I’m no expert by any means. But my love and passion is writing and calligraphy with dip inks and nibs.
I just find it’s a great Zen activity to just zone out & relax, no stress either, apart from the next colour or pen stroke you’re deciding to do! But you can just let your imagination run wild. It also has a nice and productive outcome with a personal sense of achievement. It’s also different from how most people may spend their evenings at pubs, clubs, on your phone or in front of a computer game.
I usually find a large long table at a local coffee shop, throw the pens and ink out, grab a coffee, put the ear buds in write or colour for hours. You can choose to socialise or not (introvert?), personally I like to stay busy with my head down. So it’s probably more of an “active art” get together then just idle chit chat. And sometimes it may be just hanging around other like minded people for inspiration. I’m interested to see if there is anyone else that might be doing this already or want to do the same thing? Or chat and bounce ideas off about writing, inks and calligraphy, drawing, sketching or adult colouring techniques over a cup of coffee etc.
Materials are fairly cheap. You can purchase colouring books, pens or pencils Office Works, Target, BigW, Dimocks or the Newsagent to get you started. Just pick a style you might like and it just depends on brands, how many you want, quality and how much your willing to spend. Then all you need is a rubber, a good sharpener, and your all set.
I find Friday, Saturday or Sundays late afternoons to suit the best, then just colour right into the evening.
I’m extremely flexible, open minded, and prepared to travel a little. So if you know of any different, or quirky little coffee shops or places that may suit us then please speak up!!
