WOW! – Nesting Season Spectacular: Coastal Bird Photography

Timing is everything with migratory birds—and this workshop puts you in the right place at exactly the right moment. Join us along the coast of Southern New Jersey as these stunning wading birds arrive to nest, court, and raise their young before moving on. We’ll guide you to active colonies where birds are perched, preening, incubating eggs, and interacting—offering incredible, easy opportunities for beginners—while also capturing short hops and longer flights that provide a rewarding birds-in-flight challenge for more experienced photographers.

You’ll learn how to spot behavior, anticipate action, and dial in the right settings to capture sharp, compelling images. Expect to photograph a beautiful variety of species including tri-colored herons, little blue herons, great and snowy egrets, ibis, and night herons—all in vibrant breeding plumage. Whether you’re working with a 100–400mm or even longer lens would be more ideal, this is your chance to come away with striking wildlife images and the confidence to capture them on your own.

Recommended Lens: At least a 70mm-200mm at a minimum, 100mm-400mm you will get more, but longer reach lenses of 400-600mm are more ideal.
