Friday: I’ll arrive set up camp at Quail Run campground. Attendees can car camp pay at toll both/pay at pay station or online. If you prefer electric/water hookups reservations must be done online.

5:30pm drive from the lake to attend T or C Christmas Parade starts at 6pm. Quaint old-fashion parade near Evelyn Renfro Park, downtown T or C. Food vendors and open shops serving holiday treats. www.torcmainstreet.org

Saturday Morning: folks can drive up, set up camp if you plan to camp overnight.

10 AM: enjoy a kayak float, water level is VERY LOW but enough to enjoy a float on the lake. Water will be cold. All kayakers should wear a safety vest. Folks can also fish (fishing permit required) or just hang out.

5pm - 8pm: At dusk we’ll meet near the entrance of the Luminaria Beach walk. The Luminaria Beachwalk, sponsored by Elephant Butte Lake State Park and Friends of Elephant Butte Lake, features 3000 thousand luminaria lining paths on the beach leading to community-sponsored campsites with posole, chile, cocoa, cookies, s’mores, and more! This event is open to the publicvand very family friendly.

Sunday AM: pack up and head home

Primitive sites have no amenities. Developed sites have picnic table and shade. Vaulted toilet throughout the park, flushable restrooms and potable water located on Ridge Road and Quail Run campground off Sumac Rd.

State Park fees per vehicle: free for New Mexico residents, non-NM residents $10 day use, $10/15 primitive site, $30 + reservation fee for developed site. Must have NM fishing license to fish.

Folks driving in at night be careful to stay way from the soft sand around the lakeshore otherwise might find yourself stuck in the sand. Cost $150 to get pulled out, believe me I found out the hard way.
