Let's turn the spotlight onto the Sherpas that are integral to mountaineering but don't usually star in adventure books.

Buried in the Sky: The Extraordinary Story of the Sherpa Climbers on K2's Deadliest Day
Authors: Peter Zuckerman and Amanda Padoan
320 pages
Ratings: 4.2 Goodreads

Summary: When eleven climbers died on K2 in 2008, two Sherpas survived. Their astonishing tale became the stuff of mountaineering legend. This white-knuckle adventure follows the Sherpas from their remote villages in Nepal to the peak of the world’s most dangerous mountain, recounting one of the most dramatic disasters in alpine history from a fascinating new perspective.

We will meet at 7pm on Thursday, December 11 at:

Harmon's
Upstairs cafe/meeting area
135 E 100 S
Salt Lake City

**Note, the entrance to the parking garage is a little hidden- it's on the north side of the building, behind the entrance on 100 S. Turn onto a little alley-looking street called Social Hall Ave and you will see the Harmon's parking lot and garage.

I will be there early- I have short brown hair and glasses, and will be carrying a copy of the book.
