Simon Lee Gallery, Sprüth Magers and the West End Galleries

Details
And, we're back! Our first Saturday day-time outing since March 2020, and it's back to the West end of London to look at a few galleries you'll know well if you've been on one of our art tours before. Please note, some galleries are still deciding their opening arrangements, so the shows we see are potentially subject to change, although we will still aim to visit around four galleries in total.
We will be meeting first at the Kings Head pub on Stafford Street for a drink, food and to meet one another before we set off to explore the galleries, and we will also head back there after the tour for a welcome post-exhibition drink.
There is a provisional limit of 20 places available for this tour, given the uncertainty surrounding visiting galleries. This will be reviewed nearer the time after speaking with each gallery we're visiting.
Peter Fischli at Spruth Magers:
We start our tour from 1pm at Spruth Magers to see the work of Swiss artist, Peter Fischli. In his wide-ranging oeuvre, Fischli carefully observes and draws from the everyday world to create sculpture, installation, video and works on paper that address similar concerns to those explored as part of his collaborative practice with David Weiss (1946–2012). His ongoing interest primarily focuses on the often overlooked, quotidian aspects of everyday life which he reworks in an experimental and humorous way. https://spruethmagers.com/exhibitions/peter-fischli-peter-fischli-london/
Claudio Parmiggiani at Simon Lee Gallery:
For his fourth presentation with the gallery and his third exhibition in the London space, Parmiggiani presents a suite of new Delocazione works. These panels, painted with smoke and soot, filled with the shadowy imprints of books, transform the empty gallery walls into a ghostly library: https://www.simonleegallery.com/exhibitions/220/
Helen Frankenthaler at the Gagosian Galleries:
The Gagosian Galleries are yet to decide whether they'll be able to open on Saturdays, but we're tentatively booking them in for this tour, where we'll be able to show you the work of Helen Frankenthaler, whose career spanned six decades, and has long been recognized as one of the great American artists of the twentieth century. She is widely credited with playing a pivotal role in the transition from Abstract Expressionism to Color Field painting.
