The Mayfair Galleries: Gazelli, Thomas Dane, Stephen Friedman & Timothy Taylor

Details
Update: Due to the Strikes on Saturday and popularity of this event, an email has gone out to all RSVP's confirmed Yes and further RSVP's have been paused. Please check your emails if you have RSVP'd and looking to attend this event. We will be meeting from 12:30 for a drink, and will be visiting the galleries from 13:45pm.
It's been another while since our last venture out around London's contemporary art scene, so it's time to get excited as we prepare for another meander around the popular Mayfair area. As always, we'll start by meeting in a pub for a drink and to allow everyone to arrive and meet one another before we venture out.
For this event, we're going to be exploring four galleries: Gazelli Art House, Thomas Dane Gallery, Stephen Friedman Gallery, and Timothy Taylor Gallery, and you can read about each below. It's going to be a fantastic day, and I can't wait to see you all and explore these galleries together.
Gazelli Art House: 'Retrospective': Paintings by Perle Fine
The varied body of works within the show will be A Timelessness #8 (1977), from the artist’s acclaimed Accordment series – a characterful acrylic and oil on linen work that depicts a subtle checked pattern against a soft mustard background. The show will also provide a rare chance to see Fine’s results from the 1950s and 60s.

Thomas Dane Gallery: 'Bloodlines': Moving images by Amie Siegel
Filmed in numerous private estates throughout England and Scotland, as well as in public institutions, Bloodlines follows the movement of paintings by English artist George Stubbs (1724-1806) from aristocratic homes and private country houses to an exhibition in a public art gallery, then back again.

Stephen Friedman Gallery: 'I Have Something to Tell You: Paintings by Deborah Roberts
This new body of work investigates the challenges encountered by Black children as they strive to build their identity. The exhibition brings together paintings featuring both black and white backgrounds, including some of the largest works the artist has ever made.

Timothy Taylor Gallery: 'Chippies': Paintings by Alex Katz
On display for the first time here, the Birds series (2020–present) represents a new leap into near-pure abstraction with striking avian subject matter, inspired by the chipping sparrows (‘chippies’) seen pecking in the snow outside the artist’s window.

Getting more involved in Contemporary Art London
It's been a while since the last CAL event, and I'm keen to get back to making these opportunities to explore London's Contemporary Art scene much more regular. But to do that I'm going to need your help.
If you're keen on getting involved in the organisation and running of CAL events, we'll be meeting at Everbean Coffee House on 30 Avery Row, Mayfair from 10:30am on 25th June to discuss this further before getting started with the day's event at 12:30pm (don't worry, you won't need to do anything at the event itself). If you intend to come to the planning session, please email dominic.head1610@gmail.com in advance (no later than Thursday 24th June please!) so I'll know you're coming.
Thanks!
Dom
