Experience the old-growth ecosystem of the Hill Forest! The undisturbed 225-acre woodland within Warner Parks is one of the largest protected tracts of uncut forest within an urban setting in the U.S. Distinguished by soaring 200-year-old oaks and maples, the Hill Forest is not open to the public, and access is limited to permits and guided programs.
Warner Park's Rachel Anderson will lead the off-trail, 3-1/2-hour hike. Registrants are cautioned that this is a difficult and strenuous hike, transversing loose rocks and holes that are covered by fallen leaves, logs and steep slopes (60-70%). There is potential for ankle turning and falls; sturdy hiking shoes and hiking pole/walking stick are required. There is no bathroom at this location, and you must stay with the group for the entire hike.
Group size is strictly limited to the first 15 registrants. Cancelled if heavy rain or unfavorable conditions for off trail hiking. Participants will receive an email with meetup directions.
