The next film we'll discuss is the 1955 Southern Gothic horror-thriller The Night of the Hunter.

Robert Mitchum stars as a corrupt preacher who holds nefarious motives for marrying an unsuspecting widow. Her terrified young children soon become savvy to this strangers act.

Deemed as a failure upon initial release, the film has since been re-evaluated as an expressionist classic. Sight and Sound magazine ranked the film at No, 25 in their 2022 "Greatest Films of All Time" poll.
