# Portraits in Oils: Anatomy, Colour, Fabric // An 8 Week Course with Artist Bríd Higgins Ní Chinnéide

SKILLSETS is delighted to welcome back artist Bríd Higgins Ní Chinnéide to teach a new 8 week course focusing on using oil paints to paint vibrant portraits from life.

The course will include instruction on setting up a pose, creating a likeness through observation and painting drapery and pattern. The course will be divided into four poses with a model sitting for two weeks consecutively (6 hours) for each pose. This will give students a chance to spend enough time with each painting, while making sure that there is variety in the subjects for their paintings.
We will refer to portraiture by other artists, living and historical, and we will consider the relationship between the painter and the subject.

Bríd Higgins Ní Chinnéide will be your instructor for the course. The numbers for the course will be limited, so Bríd will be able to give every student individual guidance on their work. This course would best suit students with some painting experience.

Bríd Higgins Ní Chinnéide trained at the St Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts in Russia . She was a Sky Portrait Artist of the Year semi-finalist and she exhibits regularly.
