About us
Peer Support Space was born out of a need for a peer-led organization that exists outside of the current system which keep leaving behind the same communities. No matter what somebody is going through, we believe they shouldn't have to do it alone.
All of our services and initiatives are led for and by those the services are intended for. Every community is unique and nobody can understand needs and nuances like members from the community itself. Due to this, all our services are led by and for the communities they serve.
We acknowledge that the current emotional health system continues to repeatedly fail specific communities disproportionately. We focus on catching individuals that fall through the cracks of our emotional health system. We help those (18+) navigating mental illness and/or substance misuse challenges, grief, or other obstacles to wellness.

- Agree it's okay to not be okay.
- Embrace that a rt is about the process not the product - we're all artists!
- Work together to make everyone feel welcome.
- Are here to make friends and welcome all levels of social anxiety.
- Do not tolerate "othering" people, microagressions, or other forms of bigotry (intentional or not) including but not limited to albeism, homophobia, transphobia racism, classism, or ageism. We own our impact when we cause harm.

Cool Cancer Group
Foundation for a Healthier West Orange, 1200 E Plant St, Suite 200, Winter Garden, FL, USWe’re not your regular cancer support group. We’re a cool cancer support group! Truthfully, we are probably more sad, angry, dissociated, frustrated, and other arrays of big feelings than “cool” BUT we ARE relatable!
We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month (starting February 2026) from 2PM-3PM at Foundation for a Healthier West Orange (1200 E. Plant St. Ste. 200., Winter Garden, FL 34787).
With the support of those that attend our space, we are creating a nonjudgemental space where those with cancer can laugh and cry while we vent our grievances and hold space for one another. We are a space that centers younger adults currently having or that have previously had cancer ages 18-45, while welcoming adults of all ages with lived experience of having or having had cancer.
Peer-led support groups, or what we call community gatherings, are nonclinical spaces where we do not seek to fix, analyze or pathologize one another. We believe that each person has a different set of things that work for them and center supporting somebody in the way that they want to be supported and holding back projecting that what works for us is what works for others.
This space will be hosted by Peer Support Space. It will be provided at no-cost to attendees. Light snacks will be provided, feel welcomed to bring extra to share!
In This Space We:
- Are gender inclusive. All genders can get breast cancer or other forms of cancer.
- Don’t ask what type of cancer people have or any questions without first asking if someone is okay with a question.
- Avoid strong scents within the space.
- Understand that there may be individuals that need to wear a mask for their own safety or because they prefer to. Please do not otherize individuals for this. Further, if someone needs others to wear a mask for their own safety, we agree to do so without question in the way they may need us to.
- Avoid phrases like “everything happens for a reason” or “cancer is a gift”.
- Assure that anything we say about cancer or otherwise is speaking from a place of “I” and how it personally impacts us vs making statements that do not acknowledge nuanced experiences.
- Honor that what is said here stays here.
- Center supporting people in the way they want to be supported (ex: not giving advice or resources or “cures” unless open to it)
- Do not project what works for ourselves or our own wants, religious beliefs, or views onto others.
- Give everyone an equal chance to share.
- Appreciate content uplifts (sharing what topics you will discuss and pausing for a moment) and find them helpful where possible but we also join in understanding that potentially sensitive topics may be talked about here.
- Work together to create a cozy space where our friends feel supported and cared for in the ways they consent to.
While this space is directly for those that have or have had cancer themselves, we do welcome a support person if helpful for the participant.
If you are a loved one of somebody with or that has had cancer, thank you so much for having lots of love for one of our friends! Currently, this space is not a space for loved ones of those with cancer unless you are joining to support an attendee on their request. With that said, please feel welcomed to email us and we are happy to resource brainstorm with you.
For questions, accessibility needs, to share ways we can help you feel welcome, or to just let out a big cancer-fueled “AHHHHHHHHHHH!” you want to place somewhere - please email sabrastarrphoto@gmail.com
