A Day of Mindfulness Honoring Thich Nhat Hanh [Online in Zoom]
Details
*This gathering will take place on Zoom, with the link provided to participants prior to the event.*
This special Day of Mindfulness is offered in honor of the life and teachings of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (Thầy), founder of the Plum Village tradition and a beloved teacher whose compassion, clarity, humor, and engaged presence have touched millions around the world.
Once a year, around the anniversary of Thầy’s passing, we gather to reflect on his life and teachings not as abstract philosophy, but as something living — embodied through breath, footsteps, listening, laughter, and community. During this day, there will be a Dharma sharing offered from the heart, including personal reflections and stories from time spent practicing within the Plum Village tradition, highlighting insights through lived experience rather than intellectual study.
As always, people of all faiths and those with no spiritual background are warmly welcome.
Our day will include:
- Guided and silent sitting meditation
- Mindful somatic movement
- Mindful walking in the forest (weather permitting)
- Songs that support and nourish the practice
- A Dharma sharing reflecting on the life and teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh
- Group Dharma sharing
- A mindful community lunch in celebration of Thầy’s life
We will practice together from 10:00am–1:00pm.
After closing, everyone is warmly invited to stay for a mindful lunch, offered in the spirit of community and gratitude. We will begin with a period of silent eating, followed by relaxed time to connect and enjoy one another’s presence. You are welcome to bring a dish to share; refrigerator space is available.
Please arrive 5–15 minutes early so we can settle in together gently.
Optional items to bring: a water bottle, a cushion for sitting (we have some available), comfortable walking shoes, a journal, and an open heart.
This offering is held in the spirit of Dana (generosity of the heart). There is no expectation of financial donation but you're welcome to donate if you feel called. Contributions of food, help with clean-up, or monetary support are all deeply appreciated and help sustain this refuge for the wider community.

To celebrate Thầy’s anniversary, this day concludes with a mindful meal enjoyed together in community.
May you find ease in this breath, presence in this step, and joy in this smile — wherever you are.
