DESCRIPTION:
How can educators identify and disrupt the hidden curriculum in their teaching practices to create more equitable learning environments that empower all students for leadership and success? In other words, how do the unspoken rules of school shape your students’ futures?
This asynchronous workshop examines Jean Anyon’s groundbreaking work, "Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work", which outlines the subtle ways schools reinforce social class differences without even realizing it.
Together, we’ll unpack how everyday teaching practices can unintentionally uphold these divides and, more importantly, how you can disrupt them. Through theory, practical strategies, and self-reflection, you’ll develop the tools to create a more equitable classroom—one that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and autonomy for all students, no matter their background.
If you're ready to challenge the status quo and empower your students to be leaders and decision-makers, this workshop is for you!
