ABOUT:
One of the easier hikes in Garibaldi Provincial Park, Cheakamus Lake offers beautiful views of a turquoise lake surrounded by towering mountains and lush forests. It's a great place to swim on a hot day with a beautiful rocky beach (water is quite cold though).

WHEN/WHERE:
Bayly Park, Whistler at 9:20 AM for 9:30 AM Departure. (1.5 hours from Vancouver; 30 minutes from parking).
** Consolidation to vehicles with parking passes will occur here **

RULES:
- hikes start at departure time - sharp.
- times are estimate based on normal skill level and prior trips
- everyone is responsible for their own safety and fun
- do not attend an event unless on the event's Going list
- only RSVP after reading all of the event details
- only RSVP to an event if you know you are capable of doing it
- cancel well before the event when you cannot make it
- leave a route plan with a friend, include return time, if you have overnight gear, vehicle description and license plate
- have the right footwear for your hike, if unsure ask
- having adequate food, water and supplies is essential to your own survival
- review the 10 essentials when packing and think about where you are going and what you would need if you were accidentally separated from the group, disoriented, and had to spend the night in the wilderness

By RSVP'ing Yes for this event, you acknowledge having read and agree to the release form for this group and the event in its entirety. In order to have your RSVP Accepted for this event, there are specific requirements. Every attendee must display a clear, unobstructed and current [close up] facial photo of themselves.

FITNESS:
This hike is listed at a Difficult rating. This is NOT a hike for beginners!! Please make sure you ARE ABLE to go the distance and CAN do the elevation!!
While I strive to leave no one behind, each hiker is solely responsible for their well-being and their capacity to finish the hike! If you cannot continue, you are solely required to accommodate for your trek safely back to the parking lot. This may require you to wait for your driver to return or for a driver to wait until their passengers return hours later.

Elevation Change: minimal [up 150m / down 150m]
Hiking Time: 5-6 hours (Est.)
Pace: Intermediate (micro-breaks)

HEALTH:
If you have any medical conditions that could be a factor during this hike, please feel free to speak with the host so they can be best prepared in the event of an emergency. This is voluntary. All information will be kept confidential. I am NOT a paramedic and our response is limited. It is better to plan ahead, instead of making last minute decisions in what is usually a worst-case-scenario.

CARPOOLING:
I strive to keep groups to a medium size (up to 20) in order to keep groups manageable and together. The number of members able to attend this hike is dependent on the number of vehicles available. Please indicate if you have a vehicle. Only once you have been added to the Going list, should you contact carpool drivers to add your name to their vehicle.

The payment for carpool is: $5 dollars CDN per hour of driving per person. (~4 hr x $5 = $20)
