π Silent Reading & Socialising πΊ

Details
The title of the event is a paradox! Read in silence and then discuss with like-minded folks! :-)
π How does this work?
For the first part of the event, we'll gather in St. Stephen's Green Park at 5:00 PM near the James Joyce Statue facing MoLI, then find a spot to sit and read in silence for an hour. The map location points to the correct location. Try to be at least 5 minutes early to locate the statue. You can bring a Kindle, physical book, phone, or laptop to read. During this hour, each person will read their own material without conversation.
π₯ Socialising
After an hour, at 6:00 PM, we'll gather and walk to Bartley's where you can discuss and socialise about the book you're reading in the park or something you've read earlier. We highly encourage you to move between tables and strike up conversations with fellow book lovers. These discussions about literature and reading recommendations are often the highlight of the event!
Feel free to join at any point during the event.
The Dublin weather is full of surprises and spontaneity. We've all had enough experiences with that by now!
π Helpful Tips and Notes
- Bring headphones to block out surrounding noise
- Bring an outdoor sitting mat or sheet to protect your clothes
- I will post a comment on the event page when I arrive to indicate where we're seated, so everyone can find us
- In case of rain, we'll meet directly at the bar at 5:00 PM - look out for updates in the comments
- If you prefer to skip the silent reading, you can join directly at the bar at 6:00 PM and vice versa.
- Even though there are two locations, the primary event location is St. Stephen's Green since we'll meet there first
β οΈSomething Happened?
If something unpleasant happened to you, it may happen to others. It may be small but don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Looking forward to meeting you all π
