Chicken Processing For Normal People

This will be an on farm hands on or off chance to learn how to process your own chickens. We will be processing Cornish cross and red broilers of different ages so participants can see the breed differences etc. Some have been raised in tractors, some free range, some confined so again wide spectrum. No equipment will be used that is extremely expensive or unattainable to the normal homesteader, hobby farmer, or prepper. Audience is expected to be diversified as well including all the previously mentioned groups. Depending on time and pace we may or may not quarter and vacuum package the birds. Rain may impact the event depending on whether we have concrete down in our new building by then. To keep the flow of the day moving please bring a lunch and beverages other than ice water which will be provided. Future classes will likely included a farm to table meal but due to time constraints we couldn’t get that together for this class. You will be expected to sign a liability waiver but to those concerned with opsec waivers will be burned after class if no injuries occur. This will not be a comprehensive class on pastured poultry although we will offer that in the future. Please do not sign up for this event if you are not comfortable with dirt, mud, sweat, blood (yours or the chickens), are a vegetarian, animal rights activist, or generally crazy. Animals will die at this event so that we might live and their sacrifice is not taken lightly. Please leave your religious /political views, and crude language at home as there will be women and children present. Please do not bring your dogs and drive slowly down the drive like your own child may dart in front of you. We have creeks, woods, fields, dangerous animals and safe animals, with all the fun and danger those contain, if you have kids they’re welcome to come but no babysitting will be provided so bring your own sign a waiver and for our own opsec please don’t wonder around willy nilly ask first.
