Join Effective Altruism Chicago for a talk with Marcus A. Davis, CEO and co-founder of Rethink Priorities, one of the leading research organizations in the effective altruism ecosystem. Rethink Priorities focuses on identifying high-impact, neglected opportunities across cause areas such as global health, animal welfare, and long-term risks, helping funders and organizations allocate resources more effectively.

This event takes place on Tuesday, May 19th. Doors Open at 6 but the talk won't start until around 7.

In this talk, Marcus will share insights from Rethink Priorities’ latest work, including:

  • A new cross-cause fund designed to allocate resources across multiple cause areas
  • The Donor Compass, a tool that helps individuals match their values and beliefs to recommended giving strategies
  • His own takes on cause prioritization, tradeoffs, and how to think about doing good under uncertainty

This session will be especially valuable for anyone interested in:

  • How to compare very different causes (e.g., global health vs. AI risk vs. animal welfare)
  • Turning philosophical views into practical donation decisions
  • What cutting-edge EA research suggests about where additional funding can have the greatest impact
