Urban Sketching @ Olde Mecklenburg Brewing Christmas Market

Come capture the holiday spirit with Charlotte Urban Sketchers at the annual OMB Christmas Market!

Charlotte Urban Sketchers is a local chapter of Urban Sketchers, global community of sketchers dedicated to the practice of on-location drawing.

The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery will transform into a German-inspired Christmas Market featuring over 40 vendors selling gifts and baked goods from open-air booths. OMB is Charlotte’s oldest independent brewery with the largest Biergarten in the Southeast serving award-winning German-style beer, so come thirsty and ready to draw :) 🍻

There will be lots of festive scenes to sketch - tons of shoppers + vendors, toasty firepits, and live entertainment plus Santa will be making an appearance at 2pm. Whether you're a beginner sketcher or a seasoned pro artist, you'll love this event because you'll meet like-minded folks while you practice observing and sketching from life.

📝 Order of events:

• 1pm: Meet & greet near the biergarden front entrance
• 1:10pm: Scatter, find a spot, sketch
• 2:45pm: Reconvene at biergarden front entrance for a sketchbook throw down (informal, fun critique) and mingle with other sketchers

🎒Things to bring:

• something to draw with (pencil, pastel, ink pen, charcoal, pastel, paint!)
• something to draw on (sketchbook, paper, parchment, lithograph stone!)
  Optional: something to sit on, like an outdoor chair or stool. There is a lot of seating available inside and outside but bring your own if you prefer.

🚗 Parking:
OMB is at 4150 Yancey Road, Charlotte, NC 28217. Due to high volume, parking is limited. You may park in the OMB parking lot, the parking lot next door (formerly known as The Mill @ OMB, 4210 Yancey Rd), or along Yancey Road. Please watch out for the paid parking signs and tow-away zones. You can also find overflow parking at 4433 S Tryon Street in the old Bank of America.
OMB is also accessible via the Lynx light rail system: the Scaleybark station is an 11-minute walk from the brewery.

☔ Weather:
We'll meet whether rain or shine! Although the vendors market is mostly outdoors, OMB has lots of indoor spaces that will be excellent (warm & dry) for sketching too.
