A Taste of Louisiana: Cajun, Creole!
https://kingcajuncrawfishdrphilips.com/

For a group that loves experiencing cultures through food, I thought this was a much more interesting way to celebrate than simply picking an allAmerican restaurant.

Cajun and Creole cooking developed through generations of cultural influences, including Acadian/French, African, Spanish, Caribbean, Native American and other Gulf Coast traditions. Ingredients, cooking techniques and traditions came together over time to create dishes that are now unmistakably associated with Louisiana.

Think gumbo, jambalaya, étouffée, crawfish, po’boys, red beans and rice, and beignets.

New immigrant communities continued to add to the Gulf Coast’s culinary culture, including Vietnamese Americans, whose influence helped create what we now call Viet Cajun cuisine.

This restaurant was founded by Melinda Thu Ha Nguyen, who came to the United States from Vietnam and lived inLouisiana, where she was introduced to Louisiana’s Cajun flavors and seafood traditions.

After Hurricane Katrina, she eventually made her way to Orlando and opened the original King Cajun Crawfish on Mills Avenue in 2010.

What started as a local Orlando restaurant grew into additional locations, including the Dr. Phillips location.

Come hungry and ready to get a little messy!
