Soaking Prayer

Life's challenges can affect us physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Sometimes what we need most is simply to rest quietly in God's loving presence.

Our prayer ministry offers Soaking Prayer—an hour devoted to deep, unhurried prayer. Just as something placed in warm water gradually softens as the water reaches beneath the surface, soaking prayer gives God's healing presence time to touch places within us that ordinary conversation or brief prayer may not reach. It is a time to relax, release our concerns, and simply rest in divine Love.

During the session, you are the soakee. Surrounding you in silent, prayerful support are trained soakers who hold you in compassionate, confidential prayer. If you are comfortable with it, one or more soakers may gently place a hand on your shoulder or arm as an expression of caring and blessing. Healing touch is always optional and offered only with your permission.

Unity has honored the ministry of healing prayer since its beginning. Co-founder Myrtle Fillmore inspired generations by healing herself from tuberculosis through the power of prayer and encouraging others to discover that same divine power within themselves.
