### For Black History Month NAMI SF is producing a series of events focused on the Black / African American experience with mental health.
### Over 7 million people in the U.S. who identify as Black/African American reported having a mental illness in the past year. However, while rates of mental illnesses in Black / African Americans are similar with those of the general population, Black / African Americans often face additional barriers to receiving care—in fact, according to the American Psychiatric Association, only 1 in 3 Black / African Americans who need mental health care receives it.
### Join NAMI SF, for this free and engaging panel discussion. Speakers include, Sharon Thompson, Tamuri Richardson, Monique LeSarre, PsyD, Aisha Williamson-Raun, Omolade Rosalyn Y. Roddy, LCSW.
### Learn from those directly affected by mental health experiences, along with mental health professionals, about coping strategies, self-care and community resources.
