Let's meet in the Jacks Peak parking area (down the road that is to the left of the ranger’s booth/park entrance, it’s the second parking lot past the private one), next to the restrooms. The plan is to hike the Earl Moser trail loop which has a moderate elevation gain (around 300 feet), and is about 1.8 miles. So the walk should take about 50 minutes to an hour. Per the All Trails website: “You will wander through quiet, beautiful woodlands, home to the treasured Monterey Pine forest. If you visit in spring, look out for colorful native wildflowers blooming along the path. Listen closely—this park is a popular spot for bird watchers, so bring your binoculars! While the views of Monterey Bay are breathtaking from the vista points, reviewers recommend wearing layers for the changing coastal air. Most importantly, be aware that poison oak is nearby, so wearing long pants is a great idea to protect your legs.” Please bring a charged cell phone and a water bottle. The hike will begin promptly 5 minutes after the posted start time.
