Details

  • Throughout this section, you'll be treated to excellent panoramic views across the Firth of Forth, including the iconic Forth Bridges in the distance on clear days, and the islands of Inchcolm and Inchmickery.
  • Terrain: The path is a mix of sandy beaches, concrete walkways, tarmac paths, and narrow earthy trails, particularly along clifftops. While generally well-maintained and waymarked, some sections can be rocky or involve steps.
  • Difficulty: This part of the Fife Coastal Path is generally considered moderate. There are some undulating sections and steps, but it's not overly strenuous.
  • Distance: The distance from Silver Sands, Aberdour to Pettycur Bay is approximately 4-5 miles (6-8 km), depending on the exact route taken.
  • Coastal Scenery: Enjoy the diverse coastal landscape, from sandy beaches to rocky outcrops and cliffs.
  • Wildlife: Keep an eye out for seals on offshore rocks and various seabirds.

Meeting place will be Silver Sands Car Park. The usual arrangement for leaving cars at Pettycur Bay.
