Free 8 week literacy program for 3-4 yo. Starts March. Pre-reg required

Please share: Free 8 Week Early Literacy Program at Queens Libraries The Queens Library hosts an 8 week early literacy program for 3-4yr olds and their caregivers called Kickoff to Kindergarten. (An unfortunate name, I know.) The core of the program is dialogic reading - An interactive reading technique that helps strengthen literacy skills before reading even begins. Throughout the program the instructors coach and demonstrate ways to use books, songs, games and activities to help build language skills. A nice perk is that there are lots of take-home resources including a free book each week. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, the spring sessions will be kicking off in March and April. The program requires pre-registration and a commitment to attend. At some of the branches there is a waiting list, however the Long Island City branch had low enrollment in the fall and is seeking families. Their program will be held on Wednesdays from 10:30 - 12:00 beginning March 8th. They are located at[masked]st Street, LIC. The contact number is[masked]. Usually the Children's Librarian is the one most familiar with program details and enrollment. If that time/location does not work for you other branches hosting the program include Woodhaven, Jackson Heights, Broadway, Bayside and Sunnyside (there may be some I missed too). As a matter of transparency, I am one of several instructors for this program. I do not receive any benefit or additional compensation for promoting the program. I am just trying to get the word out because I believe that information about free high quality programing should be shared! ~Angel
