HTB Meetup Vancouver #1 - Hacking 101

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Join us for the first Hack The Box (HTB) Vancouver meetup, focused on getting your feet wet, meeting the community, and shaping the future of these events! We’ll walk through the HTB platform, explore the different learning paths and lab options available, and discuss how to get the most value from HTB. For those ready to take the gloves off, we’ll finish with a guided walkthrough of a machine. 🥊

WHO ARE WE?
We are a community-driven meetup focused on hands-on, collaborative workshops on hacking and defending systems. Each month, we will "hack" through a vulnerable machine on the Hack The Box platform in a guided and discussion-based session, with a focus on understanding why the techniques work, not just completing the box.

ARE YOU A BEGINNER?
We all begin somewhere, and you don’t have to do it alone. Come along, meet a welcoming community, learn by doing, and start your journey with people who are happy to help and share what they know.

WHAT DO I NEED?
A computer, an internet connection, and some electricity. You will also need a virtual machine, but don’t worry, the setup steps and links are just below. Please create a Hack The Box account before the session, and you’ll be ready to go.

VIRTUAL MACHINE SETUP
We recommend setting up your virtual machine before the meetup so we can spend more time working on the dedicated machines together. If possible, please follow the instruction video below in advance. We are happy to help with setup on the day, but we ask that you try to download the required software and operating system beforehand.
