What we’re about
Welcome to Lit Happens. We are a book club specifically for females who enjoy a wide range of books and are looking to read, then discuss the book in a safe, fun, and positive environment.
The books we read will mainly be fiction and will include various genres except romance and science fiction. We will generally meet on the fourth Monday of the month. Location will be a restaurant setting in Lake County, Illinois and we might rotate locations as we hear about new places.
I will pick the book for the first two months (September and October). After that, I’d like the group to decide what books we read. Each book will be selected at least two months prior to the meeting. You may choose to read or listen to the book via audiobook.
I will attempt to get physical copies that can be checked out from the Grayslake Library. However, you may get your copy wherever or however you’d like.
We will start by discussing the book. But who knows where our conversations will take us. Let’s read, discuss, and make new friends! We look forward to meeting you!

How To Vote:

- You can choose up to 5 books. (If you are okay with anything on the list, click the option that says you are okay with any/all. That will count as one of your five options. In that case – you do not need to select any more.)
- You will probably have to enter your name and email address.
- Click submit, close, or finish. It should take you back to the Lit Happens Meetup page.
I will keep the survey open until December 18th. We will announce the books in Meetup.

About the Book:

How To Get a Copy:
You can get a copy on your own (library, purchase, Libby, etc.) But I also have some books on hold at the Grayslake Library, 100 Library Lane, Grayslake, IL.
- Bring your library card (from any library) and go to the checkout area.
- Tell them you are there to pick up a book for Lit Happens Book Club.
- They will register your card with Grayslake if your library is not part of their consortium and they will check out the book to you.
- There will only be limited copies available, so do not wait until the last minute.
Book Exchange:
Please bring a new or very gently used wrapped book for the holiday exchange.
