Hike at Castlewood
Details
Let's get outside and hike at Castlewood State Park! We will be joining my St. Louis Game Developers group for this hike. There may be some conversation about games and we may stop a few times for some folks to record nature sounds.
We'll meet at the River Scene Trail (where there is a parking lot) at 10:30am and hike for a few hours https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ee1Qz93qk4uciUvbA
Once we have returned from our hike, we will decompress with a picnic and some games. Bring your lunch and a blanket!
Things to Bring:
- Water
- Hiking/tennis shoes
- Hat and/or sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Bug repellent
- Snacks and/or lunch
- Picnic blanket
The River Scene Trail is:
- 3.4 miles long
- 1–1.5hr estimated time
- An elevation gain of 278ft
The Riverscene trail features Castlewood State Park's most spectacular views. The first quarter mile wraps around a forested hillside and then turns sharply uphill towards the top of the bluffs. The trail follows the edge of the cliffs for about a mile past scenic overlooks, which provide stunning panoramic views of the Meramec River valley more than 200 feet below. For more information about the trail we will be on, check out AllTrails.
