Hike: Danlan Historic Trail - Middle Route, section 1: Nuannuan to ShiFen + Mount Wufen 淡蘭古道中路第一段 + 小百岳五分山
Route information:
Level: 3/5 for beginner, 2/5 for regular hiker
Route: Nuandong Valley -> Shifen Ancient Trail -> Mount Wufen (小百岳) -> Shifen Old Street
Total time: Max. 6-7 hours including break time with slow pace
Total distance: 11~13KM
Trail condition: Some dirt roads, paved roads, stone stairs. Waterfall, pond and crossing creek at the Nuandong Valley. Some sections have no shades.

Gathering:
10:18 Nuannuan Station (lobby) 暖暖火車站大廳
Schedule and transportation:
Train number 4162: Banchiao(板橋) 09:20 - Taipei(台北) 09:30 - Nuannuan(暖暖) 10:18
10:18 - NuanNuan
10:25 - UBER: share the fee to Nuandong Valley 暖東峽谷
10:40 - Nuandong Valley - start to hike
17:00~18:00 - Reach the Shifen old street
- Dinner/ Snacks / Watching sky lanterns
- Go back to Ruifang by train then home
Bring:
- Lunch and snacks
- 2~3L of water (IMPORTANT!)
- Umbrella or raincoat
- Sunscreen
- Mosquito repellent
- Cash and changes for taking UBER
- EasyCard for taking trains (min. $300 balance)
- Optional: Fully charged battery for your cell phone / headlamp / flashlight (just in case it's dark, always be prepared)
Notes:
- It could be hot and we will be exposed to the sun, please make sure you are OK with the heat
- Please don't complain if anything not followed the original plan
- Be fun and respectful to the nature
