SNP52 - Hawksbill Loop Hike
Upper Hawksbill, Skyline Drive mile 46.5,, Syria, VA, USThis is a moderate hike of 4.2mi with 1115ft of elevation gain. This hike offers views from the highest point in the park, as well as beautiful and varied terrain. This is also part of the SNP52 Hiking Challenge,
We will travel clockwise, which means we will go up the steepest part and enjoy the viewing platform towards the end of the hike. This trail has many rocky sections, and one short section that might be considered a scramble.
You can find a map and more information about the trail on Alltrails, but we will be going in the opposite direction shown there.
Cell service will be bad at the parking lot. Please make sure you know where it is ahead of time.If you have any problem with the starting location in Meetup, you can find it on Google Maps or Alltrails. This is a large parking lot, but it's a popular location. There will be a fee to enter the park if you do not have a pass.
The event may be cancelled or rescheduled based on the weather. Please note that I am not a professional guide and you will be hiking at your own risk.
