Contemporary Mongolian Art – Monumental Abstract Calligraphy and Ceramic Sculptures

With “Α and Ω” (Alpha and Omega), galerie son presents an exhibition of new works by ODMAA Uranchimeg, SUKHBUREN Narankhuu, and NYAM-OCHIR Oyunpurev, on view from 21 October to 21 November 2026. Located at Schinkelplatz 4 – opposite the Humboldt Forum and just steps from Museum Island – the gallery invites visitors to discover a Mongolia whose contemporary art deserves just as much attention as its rich history.

Coinciding with the exhibition “Genghis Khan and the World of the Mongols” at the James-Simon-Galerie, galerie son offers a contemporary perspective with “Α and Ω”, highlighting artistic expressions from Mongolia today. For collectors, curators, and the media, the exhibition provides an opportunity to explore three distinct artistic positions through their latest works.

At its heart lies a universal question: When does an ending become a beginning?

Presented in cooperation with the Arts & Media Project Management & Consulting NGO (AMPMC) from Ulaanbaatar, the exhibition opens on 21 October to coincide with the state visit of Mongolian President Uchnaagiin KHURELSUKH to Germany. The new works were created as part of AMPMC’s 2026 Artist-in-Residence Programme at the Berliner Bildhauerwerkstatt des bbk.
