Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans is a time for remembrance, resilience and joy. On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, freedom reached Texas, marking the beginning of the end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth, now a nationally recognized holiday, honors this pivotal moment in history.
