'Ghost Music' by An Yu

Song Yan has given up her career as a concert pianist and now teaches in her Beijing apartment. Her husband, an executive at a car company, has long refused to have a child with her. He resists even when his mother arrives from China and demands a grandchild. Song Yan finds it hard to stay calm, and she begins to have a recurring dream about being locked in a room with a strange orange mushroom.

Summoned to a peculiar, ancient house hidden in the middle of a congested city, Song Yan finds Bai Yu, a once world-famous pianist who disappeared ten years ago.
