HOW CAN TECH PROTECH DIVERSITY IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY?
With Rob Sturrock and Andrew Harvey

Between 14th March and the 18th of April 2020 employment decreased in Australia by 7.5%. Job losses were not equal across the board. Unemployment dropped by 8.1% for women and 6.2% for men.

Many factors can be explored to explain this; women are overrepresented in insecure work and casual contracts, they bear more of the responsibility for educating and caring for children unable to go to school/daycare etc.

How should the Australian technology sector respond to this situation which is threatening to undo the work that's been done in recent years to progress the role of women in tech? What can be done?

Join the discussion! We are delighted to welcome special guest Rob Sturrock, celebrated author of "Man Raises Boy" and active equality advocate who will run the conversation and present the problem to be solved. We're also joined by technology leader Andrew Harvey (Microsoft) who will run a whiteboard session and the whole group will get involved to hack solutions (in break-out rooms) and determine real actions we can take away and employ.
