Come work up an appetite on a hike before your Thanksgiving meal!

Kennesaw Mountain saw one of the most decisive battles of the Civil War, and the park has maintained many of the historic fencelines and earthworks of that time, along with a number of strategically placed cannons from the war.

The leaves should be in full glory, and we'll have a nice bit of fall weather, with highs around 50ºF, so make sure to dress in layers to ensure optimal comfort and minimal sweating 😉

We'll be doing the 6-mile loop, which has a few mountains/hills and some boulders to climb over, so moderate hiking fitness is required, but we'll stop for breaks and keep a fairly leisurely, 2-mph pace. This hike is a bit longer and more technical than our recent hikes at Sope Creek and the Palisades, so it will likely take us around 3-3.5 hours.

There's a $5 parking fee unless you have an annual pass for this park ($40). It is a national park, so the America The Beautiful passes are valid as well.

Don't forget to bring plenty of water and snacks or anything else you may need to ensure your personal comfort.

Let's all meet at the visitor center at 11:45am, and we'll start hiking at noon (to allow people time to park, pay for parking, introductions, etc.).

Note that the parking at the visitor center is quite limited, but there are a couple of overflow lots down the street. Try to arrive early in case you may need to walk over from overflow.
