What we’re about
Who we are: We are friends who want to expand our circle of friendships and cultivate a community of support. We know there are others with the same interest too! We are extending an invitation to you to join us.
The idea for this group started with two friends: Dale and Laura. We are both educated with professional careers working with and providing services to the public (Dale recently retired.) People often find us thoughtful, considerate, and introspective. We both admit we have not put a lot of effort into making friends in the past. Work and family obligations have often interfered plus we have quiet and introverted tendencies. But it’s time for a change and we are ready! Let’s do it!
It is our intention to make healthy friendships and create a safe, supportive community. We are willing to invest some time and to make the effort needed. But not to sound too serious! We are looking for playfulness, fun, and laughter! Between us we have a wide variety of interests including cooking, dancing, outdoor activities, art, and having a good conversation and fun over coffee or dinner. At times too, our aim will be to get out of our comfort zone and stretch ourselves a little bit. We think a small group of 6 – 8 people will be ideal.
Are you a mature individual capable of authenticity and self-reflection? Are you satisfied with your life but want to add to it? Do you feel like you have interests and positive energy to share with others and you’re willing to make the effort to help create this community?
We are not looking for dating partners and we won’t help you find your soulmate. And if you like to drink in excess or use other intoxicating substances, we are not the group for you! The hardest drug we do is over-the-counter Tylenol!
This is our first attempt at doing this and we are not entirely sure how it will turn out. It’s kind of our little experimental project which we will continue to invent along the way. If you think you may be a good fit for us, please let us know. We will be planning a get-together soon.
What makes a good life? Research shows its healthy eating, exercise, and good relationships! And of those three, the best predictor of health and longevity is relationships!

See all- Bainbridge Island Ferry TripColman Dock, Pier 52, Seattle, WA
We are excited to announce the next event for our “Good Life!” group. It’s a ferry trip to Bainbridge Island to explore shops, have dinner, and have ice cream for dessert! (We will be walking on the ferry, not taking vehicles.)
Upon arrival we will plan on spending 60 – 90 minutes wandering around exploring shops in Winslow before heading to dinner about 5 pm. There are multiple restaurants to choose from on Bainbridge. One we were considering is the Bainbridge Thai restaurant. We will break up into smaller groups at the restaurant (depending on the number of attendees). We've found this works well for facilitating conversation and getting to know one another. Everyone is responsible for paying for their own ferry tickets and dinner.
Our RSVP list usually fills up fast. If you didn't get signed up in time to make the list and you really want to come, go ahead and send me a private message and we'll see if we can't make room for you. For those of you who do get on the RSVP list and then you realize you won't be able to make it to the event please remove yourself from the list as soon as possible to make room for others. Thank you!
I do believe it’s OK to bring your dogs. If I understand correctly dogs on a leash are allowed on the ferry with walk-on passengers but you must stay in the outside passenger areas. You’re allowed to pass through interior areas to reach those outdoor spots. You can verify the pet policy at:
Pets | WSDOT
Dogs are allowed on their outdoor patio at the Bainbridge Thai restaurant; however, they can only accommodate 6-8 people on their patio.
Suggestions for getting there:
You might do well to use public transportation to avoid finding and paying for parking downtown. Here are some choices:King County Metro Bus: Many Metro bus routes serve stops near the Colman Dock ferry terminal. You can check King County Metro's website:
(https://kingcounty.gov/depts/transportation/metro.aspx) for schedules and routes.
Link Light Rail: If you're coming from areas like SeaTac Airport or Northgate, the Link Light Rail is an option. Get off at Pioneer Square Station or University Street (Symphony) Station, both are within walking distance of the ferry terminal. If you do want to drive, there are multiple places to park. I can't tell you what the best place is, but you might try the Republic Parking garage under Russell Investments at 1302 2nd Avenue which is by the Seattle Art Museum and near Pike Place Market.
