Sunday Free Breakfast for the Homeless

Help us serve breakfast to the homeless in the Fairview neighbourhood of Vancouver! We operate out of the Odd Fellows’ Hall at 1443 W 8th Avenue in Vancouver (near Broadway & Granville). This neighbourhood has virtually no services for the homeless and we have built a very happy and positive group and built good relationships with people who are unhoused and/or food insecure in our neighbourhood. Each Sunday morning from 9:30am-11:30am we serve breakfast to about 100 homeless. While they enjoy breakfast our volunteers sit with them and socialize, giving them a rare opportunity to feel normal for a while; we also ask what their needs are and we help as we can. We have a modest budget and try to keep them supplied with health & safety items such as waterproof shoes, clothing, socks, snacks, and other goodies.
Our preference is for volunteers who live in the neighbourhood.
We are seeking volunteers willing to commit to coming out at least 1x per month.

The initial sign-up information will be posted in our Event Comments on Meetup, and will be conducted all online. All future events will be organized by the organization during and after your application process.

1. Long-Term
2. Volunteer Application, Criminal Record Check (2-4 weeks), Reference Checks
3. 6 months minimum, 12+ months preferred (optional to continue longer)
