Community Police: Various Volunteering Opportunities

Working Together to Make Vancouver Canada’s Safest Major City:

No one knows their community better than the people who live and work there. Vancouver’s community policing centres are each operated, staffed and governed by members of the community, who work in partnership with the Vancouver Police.

This is a unique opportunity for people looking to help the community. The Community Policing Centres are looking for volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 8 hours or more per month. Events vary and range from:

1. Office Administration & Information Services
2. Foot Patrol & Speedwatch
3. Community Cleanups
4. Outreach Community Events

Additional seasonal volunteer opportunities are available for those looking to help the community (or to get additional experience to put on their resumes).

*The initial sign-up will be done in-person. All future events will be organized by the organization during and after your application process. We will meet for coffee to discuss why you'd like to volunteer and to answer any questions you may have about the organization.

Volunteer Type, Application Steps, Length of Volunteering:
1. Long-Term
2. Online Information Session you're required to attend (there may or may not be one depending on your selected location), Volunteer Application, Volunteer Interview, Criminal Record Check (2-4 weeks), Reference Checks, Volunteer Orientation (Any additional Volunteer Training for new volunteer programs will be provided as required)
3. 1 year minimum, 2-3+ years is highly preferred (optional to continue longer), 8 hours or more per month

Have your resume, contact details, references, and schedule information available in advance for the event.
