Simeon Lee invites his estranged family to Gorston Hall for the holidays, but only to torment them and hint at changing his will. On Christmas Eve, a deafening crash and a bloodcurdling scream shatter the festivities. The family breaks into Simeon's room to find him dead in a pool of blood with his throat slashed, apparently from the inside of a locked door
Hercule Poirot happens to be staying nearby and steps in to investigate. He uncovers deep-seated resentments, hidden identities, and long-held desires for revenge within the dysfunctional family, using his trademark psychological analysis to solve the case
