⚔️🏯More than 800 years, together with Kamakura.
The Kamakura period marked the birth of samurai society.
Kamakura was once the center of the country.

The hidden hiking course of the Gionyama.
It's a short, 1.5km hike that takes about 40 minutes, but it's a walk surrounded by abundant nature🪾🌿 You can enjoy the view of Yuigahama beach from the observation deck at the top of Gionyama.
Before heading here, take a 5-minute walk to visit some temples that give you a sense of Kamakura's history🥷🏯
First, there's Daigyoji Temple, where expectant mothers from all over Japan come to pray for safe childbirth.
Next is Hongakugi Temple, built by the monk Nichiren. It has been preserved in its original state. It enshrines the god Ebisu and offers five blessings: happiness, love, health, wealth, and learning.
And then there's Myohonji Temple, one of the most prestigious temples.
Built in a deep, tranquil location, surrounded by trees and flowers, it's surprising that such a place existed, even though it's so close from the station.
This is the vast temple grounds are home to the main hall and the founder's hall, but this was the residence of the family of Hiki Yoshikazu, one of the top samurai featured in the NHK TV drama "THE 13 LORDS OF THE SHOGUN”.⚔️
It is a historically moving site, as the family was wiped out in a power struggle in 1203.
After, go to the nearby Yakumo Shrine and take the Gionyama hiking trail.
We will walk while imagining the ancient appearance of the temple, including the ruins of Tosho-ji Temple and its tower, which once held more than 700 members.
Afterwards, we will proceed to Hokaiji Temple, the temple of the Hojo clan, the highest authority who held real political power.
On the way back, it is only a five-minute walk to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. It’s plan to find a place to eat lunch on the way there.

穴場的な祇園山ハイキングコース。
約1.5km約40分ほどで短いながらも豊かな自然の中を歩くことができ、祇園山山頂の見晴台からは由比ヶ浜の展望が楽しめます。
ここへ入る前に、各々が5分ほど歩いて回れる鎌倉の歴史を感じさせられるお寺を巡りましょう。
先ずは大巧寺、安産を願う妊婦の人々が、日本全国から来ています。
そして、日蓮上人が建てたお寺の本覚寺。
古いまま残されています。恵比寿神を祀ってありご利益は「福」「愛」「健」「財」「学」の5つです。そして、格式の高い寺院の一つの妙本寺。駅から近いのにこんな場所があったのーと思うほど、奥深い静粛な場所に作られ、木々、花々に囲まれた場所です。
今は、広大な境内には本堂や祖師堂がありますが、ここは、ドラマ『鎌倉殿の13人』の１人の武士のトップの比企能員という一族の屋敷です。1203年に権力闘争で戦い滅んでいった一族の歴史的に感慨深い場所になります。そしてその後は、すぐ近くの八雲神社へ進み、祇園山ハイキングコースに入ります。700名以上いた東勝寺跡とやぐらなど、昔の姿を思い浮かびながら歩いて行きます。その後、政治の実権を握っていた最高責任者の北条氏のお寺、宝戒寺に進みます。
帰りは、鶴岡八幡宮までは歩いて5分ほど。ランチは食べられる場所を探してその間に食べる予定です。
