👑Hayama Coastal Hike: Imperial Villas & Ocean Views
This route takes you through the heart of Hayama, blending cultural landmarks with refreshing sea breezes.
Route Overview🐬🐬

* Total Walking Time: Approx. 3hours (excluding breaks and museum time).
* Difficulty: Easy (mostly flat, coastal paths).

1. Starting Point: Chojagasaki & Hayama Shiosai Park
Before you begin your trek, head to the tip of Chojagasaki Cape. You’ll be greeted by a breathtaking panorama of Sagami Bay with Enoshima Island visible in the distance. This view is the quintessential Hayama experience—it's the moment you'll truly feel, "I’ve arrived!"
Right nearby stands the Hayama Imperial Villa, a serene retreat used by the Japanese Imperial Family. While the villa itself is not open to the public, you can certainly feel the prestigious and dignified atmosphere that surrounds the estate.
And Hayama Shiosai Park (Entry: 300 yen).
* History & Art: Established on the former site of the Imperial Villa’s annex, the park features a museum where you can learn about local marine life and history.
* The Garden: Enjoy a classic Japanese garden complete with a peaceful pond and vibrant seasonal flowers.
* The View: The black pine grove on the ocean side—it offers a spectacular vantage point to see Mt. Fuji, the Izu Peninsula, and Oshima Island on a clear day.
2. Beaches & Fine Art
* Isshiki Beach: Often voted one of the beautiful beaches in the world. Take a moment to walk the shoreline.
* Museum of Modern Art, Hayama: Located right on the coast, this museum offers incredible architecture and rotating exhibitions. Even if you don't go inside, the garden overlooking the ocean is a must-see.
3. Coastal Stroll to Shinase & Morito
From the museum, head north along the coastline.
* Shinase Coast: A picturesque area with a charming, nostalgic fishing village vibe.
* Morito Daimyojin Shrine: This is a spiritual highlight. Offer a prayer at this historic seaside shrine.
* The Floating Torii: Look out toward the horizon to see the iconic red Torii gate (Nanjima) and the lighthouse standing alone in the ocean. It’s the perfect photo op!
4. The Grand Finale: Hayama Marina
Continue your walk north toward the Hayama Marina.
* Relax: This is the hub of Japan’s yachting culture.
* Cafe Time: End your hike at one of the marina’s stylish cafes. Grab a coffee or a local dessert while watching the boats bob in the harbor.
Quick Tips for the Road
* Check the Tide: The walk is much more pleasant when the tide isn't completely covering the sandy paths.
* Look for Fuji: On a clear day, you can see Mount Fuji across the bay from Morito Shrine!
