Friends without Borders

Welcome to Friends Without Borders – a friendly, online space from Dubai where people around the world can practise English, meet new friends, and build real global connections.

This group is part of a growing international community of meetups, including our groups in Sydney, the Philippines, Vietnam (Da Nang), and Taiwan, all focused on English conversation and cross‑cultural friendship.

What we do
Weekly Zoom meetups with small, friendly groups

Guided topics for conversation (travel, culture, work, hobbies, daily life)

Simple speaking activities so everyone gets a chance to talk

Space to share your culture, story, and experiences

Occasional in‑person meetups in Dubai when possible (optional, not required)

This is not a formal English class and not a dating group. It’s a social, conversation‑based space where English is the common language and friendship is the goal.

Who this group is for
People living in Dubai or anywhere in the world who want to connect

English levels from lower‑intermediate to fluent (if you can say more than “hello” and follow a basic conversation, you’re welcome)

Locals, expats, digital nomads, students, travellers

People who are open‑minded, respectful, and curious about other cultures

If you want to feel more comfortable speaking English and meeting people from different countries, this group is for you.

How it works
Platform: Zoom (or similar online meeting platform)

Frequency: Once a week

Duration: 60–90 minutes

Format:

Short introductions

Simple topic or question of the day

Small‑group or pair conversations (if possible)

Group sharing at the end

The goal is easy, natural conversation – not perfection.

Group guidelines
To keep this a safe and comfortable space:

No dating or flirting – this is about friendship and community

Respect first – listen, don’t interrupt, and avoid aggressive debates

English during the meetup so everyone can follow

No correcting people mid‑sentence; gentle feedback only if someone asks

Be kind to beginners and patient with different accents

Anyone who repeatedly ignores these guidelines may be removed to protect the group atmosphere.
