What we’re about

The goal of this group is to enhance the bass section of the Chancel Choir at Glenn United Methodist Church. The choir has male and female singers but we are specifically searching for strong basses who excel in projecting notes below F#2. We are also looking for oktavists who specialize in singing powerfully below B1. If you are not a natural bass but you are very passionate about learning vocal techniques to improve your low notes, then you are welcome to join us as well. Techniques like subharmonics and ingressive phonation are encouraged for basses to learn, but not Kargyraa (aka Tuvan throat singing) because it sounds unpleasant. Male singers of all skill levels in bass singing may be part of the choir but make sure you can read music.

The location of our singing sessions is at
1660 N Decatur Rd, Atlanta, GA 30307

Every Wednesday rehearsals start at 7:00-9pm. On Sundays rehearsals start at 10-11am

I also sing at other churches in a few other towns in Georgia during my free time. Acworth, Marietta, Cedar Town, Norman Park are usually where I perform with different people.

Some of the greatest oktavists that I strive to be like are Glenn Miller, Vladimir Pasjukov, Mikhail Zlatopolsky, Stefan Voiçu, Kelly Cossey, Alexander Mayang, etc.

Great operatic basses that inspire me to become a better soloist are Morris Robinson, Kurt Moll, John Ames, Samuel Ramey, Cesare Siepi, etc

If you want to learn vocal techniques subscribe to David Larson's youtube channel and Thou Yang's channel. I also highly suggest subscribing to The Oktavism Channel on youtube.
