Colonial Faire and Fyfe & Drum Muster on grounds of Wayside Inn in Sudbury

Details

This is an information post about a fun, interesting outdoor event to celebrate our history! No RSVPs necessary.

The event is free this year. There is also free parking.

You may want to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on the grass while enjoying the parade and fife & drum performances.

The Sudbury Ancient Fyfe and Drum Muster will be held Saturday, Sep 27, 2025 from 10am-4pm on the grounds of the historic Longfellow’s Wayside Inn - a full day of music, muskets, history, and fun.

The Colonia Faire opens at 10:00 with a colonial encampment, militia and crafts demonstrations, contradancing, dozens of colonial and craft vendors and 25 fife and drum corps from across New England and New York. Food is available on the field.

The Grand Parade of fifes and drums begins at noon and will be followed directly by a performance by each of the corps attending. The muster is a celebration rather than a competition: the corps are appearing by invitation to share their music and friendship. Come enjoy the music and remember our Colonial heritage.

The talented, inspiring musicians performing include: Middlesex County Volunteers Fifes & Drums (MCV), William Diamond Junior Fife & Drums Corps, Sudbury Ancient Fyfe & Drum, Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps.

This event is hosted by the Sudbury Companies of Militia and Minute and the Sudbury Ancient Fyfe and Drum Companie.
