Royal Gorge Rim Trail ~ 6 mi

We are heading down to Cañon City and the spectacular views above the Royal Gorge. We have options on this route, depending on the weather. We are going to start at the Canyon Rim Trailhead, and make our way down the Overlook Trail to see fantastic views of the gorge. We make a small loop around to then stand high above the bridge. This little lollipop will bring us back to our parking lot. From there we continue on the Canyon Rim Trail, which snakes high along the gorge. This trail is nicely shaded with some open spots and nothing but views.

We will take a turn on the Far Out Trail and see another overlook - a great spot to relax, take pics, and eat a snack. Here we will keep going around to the Canon View Trail, which brings us past the campground and back to Canyon Rim. And we retrace our steps here to get back to the car.

Nothing difficult on this hike, it meanders in/out of the views over the gorge. Gorgeous scenery, ~300' total gain. ** Dogs allowed on leash **

Please consider carpooling. The trailhead holds maybe ten cars with a little space for overflow.

Lunch post-hike at a great, little place off Route 115 for those interested :) .
