### What is Premise?

Premise creates welcoming, in person and online gatherings where people come together to explore life’s big questions through short readings, poems, stories, and conversation. Sessions are guided, unpretentious, and designed for anyone who enjoys thinking, reflecting, and connecting with others in a meaningful way.

### Holiday Gathering & Open House

Come celebrate the season with Premise at our Holiday Open House in Portland. This is a casual, welcoming evening for curious, thoughtful Portlanders who enjoy good conversation, meaningful connection, and a cozy winter vibe.

Whether you have been to a Premise session before or you are brand new, this is a great low pressure way to connect, meet new people, and experience the spirit of Premise.

### What’s happening

Bring one book from your shelf that you genuinely loved and are ready to pass on. You will leave with a new book for the new year!. If you need to, it is totally fine to bring a used copy you picked up just for this.

We will also gather for a short, low key Premise-style seminar. We will share a poem together, do a brief guided reflection, and open the room for light discussion.

Enjoy a short Premise conversation on the poem “Footnote to Howl” Allen Ginsberg as read by Patti Smith. and we'll dig into the question: What is holy and who decides?
