Are We Who We've Always Been?

A Premise Pod: three conversation sessions, one group, one big life question

Most of us carry more than one version of ourselves: who we were, who others think we are, who we hoped to become, who we had to become, and who we are still becoming now.
In this Pod we ask what stays constant in us, what changes, and whether becoming a person means discovering who we are or learning to live with all the selves we have been. Together, we'll explore: How much can a person really change? What makes you still you? Can we make peace with who we have been?

We'll draw from poems, essays, memoir, and film, including work by Jorge Luis Borges, Zadie Smith, Amy Tan, Langston Hughes, Ocean Vuong, Joan Didion, and the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and many more!

The first session readings will be sent as soon as you register and preparation between sessions is designed to take under two hours.

This is a three-session Pod. The same small group meets all three evenings, so the conversation builds over time. We ask that you are able to commit to all three sessions before registering.
