🔥 Bad Idea #1: Let’s Play With “Fire”

We talked about trying fire dancing at our first Bad Club meetup, so naturally the next step is to actually do it (or impersonate it).

Come hang out, watch some “fire” dancing, and try your hand at spinning poi. There will be people playing with all kinds of props, and the community is generally really friendly and willing to show beginners a trick or two.

I’ll be bringing LED poi. Full disclosure: I’m still very much a beginner myself, but I know enough to get another beginner off to a bad start. And there are usually plenty of more experienced people around who are happy to show us a trick or two.

Never tried poi? Perfect. You may actually make me look experienced. And if spinning things around your head doesn’t sound like a good idea, it’s totally fine to just come hang out and watch.

If you think you’ll want to spin for a while, I recommend ordering an inexpensive pair of LED poi on Amazon and bringing them with you. I’ll also have a couple extra pairs, so you’re welcome to just show up and try it before buying anything.

You will not be spinning fire (unless you're already a trained fire spinning baddie). LED poi are plenty of fun, considerably harder to set yourself on fire with and a great way to learn.

Come watch, try something new, meet some interesting people, and posibly discover a hobby that will be difficult to explain to your coworkers on Thursday morning.
