"Eye to Eye, Mind to Mind and Heart to Heart: Storytelling with Claire McNicol."
The Scottish Travellers say that when you tell a story or sing a song it should be shared eye to eye, mind to mind and heart to heart. In our current culture of screens many of us have stopped looking at each other and we miss opportunities to connect and hear each other's stories.
This session will explore how we can nurture our human relationships and build community through listening to and telling stories. We will hear about the tradition of a ceilidh which is a Gaelic word for house visit or gathering. Nowadays it is best known as a dance but traditionally a ceilidh involved the sharing of stories and songs music dance and riddles.
Everyone had 'their turn' to contribute to the party. Being part of a ceilidh is an exchange in human warmth. Could the resurgence of a ceilidh culture help is retain our humanity in a digital age?
We hope to see you there!
