## About this event

The Self-Assignment Photo Challenge's primary goal is to inspire you to take more photos with subjects that may be outside your comfort zone.
According to Liz Masoner, professional photographer and author, Self-assignments are critical to any photographer's growth. Even professionals with decades of experience will work on personal assignments that they may never get paid. Any self-assignment aims to spur creativity, solve problems, learn new techniques, and challenge yourself. They allow you to experiment with something you have never tried before and play around with different photographic approaches. With such an assignment, you will challenge yourself and develop your skills.

The self-assignments aren't a contest but a themed challenge with an open online critique moderated by Foto Dono. The session is recorded and uploaded later to Foto Dono's YouTube Channel. - Foto Dono - YouTube.

Self-Assignment - World in Black and White - You can tackle it however you feel comfortable. How would you visualize the world in monochrome? I've often looked more for emotions, mood, smoke, shadows, lines, graphical elements, and minimalism. The assignment may be different if you only practice shooting in color. For learning how to see in monochrome, check the following Google Image link - https://bit.ly/3ibwCZS.

There is no fee for this event. However, if you wish to leave a tip or buy a cup of coffee for the host, you can do so at the following link - https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/fotodono.

Here are the ground rules for this challenge. You will have until the night before to upload up to three of your favorite images. Upload the photos via MeetUp. Otherwise, you can send them to Foto Dono via Dropbox or Google Drive at fotodono@gmail.com.

Please list the camera type, lens (if zoom, which focal length), aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and lighting details (type of light, placement, modifiers, powers of strobes).

If you cannot attend, please include the following - Why did you take the shot? What was the goal, and did you achieve it? If you could, what would you change? The information will help others and Foto Dono when they review your work.

We will meet online on February 28th at 7:00 PM.
