### What is Self-Compassion

  • Self-Compassion means offering yourself the same kindness you would offer to a good friend.
  • For example, when your friends made a mistake, and they are disappointed. What would you say to them? Perhaps, you would say " I am so sorry you are going through this. Everyone makes mistakes. I know you are a good person. Is there anything I can do for you?"
  • We often treat ourselves very harsh while we actually know how to be kind to a friend.

### The Proven benefits of Self-Compassion

Thousands of research has shown the benefits of self-compassion.
For example, the people who are more self-compassionate tend to

  • accept their flaws and mistakes without feeling inadequate or unworthy
  • less inner critics
  • be able to manage and therefore reduce stress and anxiety
  • be less likely to get stuck in negative emotions when things go wrong
  • see challenges as opportunities for growing
  • engage in positive behaviour changes and strive for personal growth
  • sleep better
  • have better immune system

### What is Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)

  • Founders of MSC
  • Kristine Neff PhD ( Texas University), the pioneering researcher on self-compassion
  • Chris Germer PhD (Harvard University), a clinical psychologist and specialist in mindfulness
  • Developed in 2010
  • More than 250,000 people have taken the course till 2023
  • In more than 20 countries and regions through the world

### What You'll Experience in this Meditation Session:

This session is guided by Hiroe, an experienced MSC Trained Teacher.

  • Check-in
    We will start our hour with briefing introducing ourselves. This will allow us to have a moment to connect to each other. As we practice Self-Compassion in community, it is important that we feel safe in the group.
  • Guided Self-Compassion Meditation
    During the meditation, we practice offering kind and warm awareness to ourselves. This gentle meditation will allow you to feel peaceful and connect to yourself.
  • Time for Sharing & Discussion
    After the meditation, we’ll create a safe space for reflection, discussion, and sharing your experience. This helps deepen the practice and fosters connection with others on a similar journey.

About Your Guide:
Hiroe Takeuchi is a committed MSC and Vipassana practitioner. She has completed MSC Teacher Training in 2023 June, and since then offered 14 MSC courses to more than 200 people. She also hosts MSC community for those who want to continue the practice with her (20 active members). She has been mainly teaching in Japanese till now and she is looking forward to offering this beautiful practice in the Netherlands.
